SUMMARY:A Conversation with Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana: Reflections on Health Leadership in Rwanda
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation with Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana\, Minister of Health of Rwanda\, physician\, and epidemiologist\, whose leadership has helped shape one of the most equitable and resilient health systems in the world. Dr. Nsanzimana will share insights into his work strengthening Rwanda’s national health system\, including expanding universal health coverage\, leveraging digital health innovations\, and building strong community-based care. He will reflect on Rwanda’s remarkable progress in improving health outcomes and discuss how leadership\, innovation\, and data-driven policymaking can advance health equity at scale. \nHeld in partnership with the Center for International Development at Harvard Kennedy School and the Harvard University Center for African Studies\, this event invites Harvard students from across disciplines to explore these practical lessons. The conversation will be followed by a moderated Q&A. \nOpen to current Harvard undergraduate and graduate students with an HUID. \nRegister \n  \nSpeaker \n \nDr. Sabin Nsanzimana\nMinister of Health\, Rwanda \nDr. Sabin Nsanzimana is the Minister of Health of Rwanda\, appointed in November 2022. A physician and epidemiologist\, he previously led the Rwanda Biomedical Centre\, the University Teaching Hospital of Butare\, and Rwanda’s national HIV and hepatitis programs. He holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Basel and has authored over 230 scientific publications. Dr. Nsanzimana has led major clinical trials and multi-country research collaborations. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and lectures in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Rwanda.
