Join our team as HGHI’s Executive Director!

National and cross-national imbalances in the health status of different groups are largely driven by systemic inequities. Addressing the most pressing public health challenges of today requires an understanding of these long-standing structures and a commitment to equity in all aspects of work. This is especially true for the field of global health; equity, justice, and decolonization must inform the systems we build and the methods we employ to change the structures that deem some lives as less worthy than others.

As a convener of cross-disciplinary experts focused on the world’s most pressing threats to health, the Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) is committed to centralizing equity in all aspects of our work. We are seeking an Executive Director who shares HGHI’s commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environment and who prioritizes decolonization in their work.

HGHI collaborates across the university and with partners around the world to develop the knowledge that will generate better outcomes for the health of the world’s population. The Institute is led by Louise Ivers, MD, MPH, DTM&H, Executive Director of the MGH Center for Global Health, and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Reporting to and working in partnership with Dr. Ivers, the Executive Director is responsible for the execution of the strategic vision of the Faculty Director and Steering Committee.

HGHI encourages all candidates to apply, particularly those of diverse backgrounds and/or who have professional working experience within communities most impacted by pressing threats to global health. The application and full details about the position can be found HERE.
