Internship Details
Potential Projects:
Support for Policy Goals Related to Global HIV and TB
- Conduct literature reviews and develop materials to support policy objectives, including topics like PEPFAR reauthorization, congressional appropriations, and strategic positioning of CDC.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Developing issue briefs, talking points, and strategic materials.
- Supporting issues management for CDC’s global HIV and TB portfolios.
- Participating in team meetings and engagements with external stakeholders.
- Contributing to partner engagements and strategic development activities.
Engagement Period: June-August
Format: Hybrid (a mix of virtual and in-person work).
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform literature reviews on public health topics such as HIV and TB.
• Develop public health communication materials, including briefs and talking points.
• Manage and cultivate relationships with global health partners.
• Participate in strategic policy discussions and stakeholder engagements.

Candidate Requirements:
Essential Skills:
• Passion for global health and policy work, specifically related to HIV and/or TB.
• Strong communication and writing skills for policy materials.
• Interest in health equity and public health advocacy.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in public health communications or global health policy.
• Ability to manage literature reviews and analyze health policy topics.
Work Environment:
• Format: Hybrid (a combination of virtual and in-person work).
• Location: Two days per week in office, with more in-person time expected by Summer 2025.
• Collaborative Opportunities: Interns will engage with CDC staff and external stakeholders both virtually and in person.
Additional Details:
• Interns must complete a federal government onboarding process, including background checks and paperwork.
• Candidates should explain their goals and passion for HIV and TB policy work (not program implementation or hard science).
