The Mental Health for All Lab aims to create rigorous, evidence-based solutions for mental health challenges globally. Through research and evaluation, the lab ensures interventions are scientifically grounded and impactful.
The lab’s EMPOWER initiative focuses on scaling psychosocial interventions for mental health care by leveraging digital tools to train frontline workers.
Internship Projects
Main Focus Areas
- Behavioral Activation
- Collaboration with Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and Baylor Scott and White Health to address adult depression in Texas through a brief, evidence-based program targeting frontline workers.
- EMPOWER Youth
- Aims to train school staff and community workers to address youth depression and anxiety using a transdiagnostic and community-oriented approach.
- Peer Support Project
- Developing the first global curriculum for training individuals with lived experience to support others living with severe mental health conditions.
Responsibilities
Interns will contribute based on their interests and skills across one or more projects. Tasks include:
- Reviewing training content (e.g., implementation, competency assessment, supervision manuals).
- Supporting coaching processes via digital communication.
- Transcribing and revising notes from focus group discussions and interviews.
- Assisting with data analysis and synthesis for presentations, manuscripts, and reports.
Learning Outcomes
- Implementation Science: Gain experience in applying evidence-based interventions in diverse community settings.
- Mixed-Methods Data Analysis: Develop proficiency in combining qualitative and quantitative research approaches.
- Curriculum Development: Learn to culturally and contextually adapt training materials for various target groups.
Qualifications
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience working with remote teams.
- Excellent communication skills (prompt, responsive, adaptable).
- Background in mental health or psychology (preferred but not required).

Onboarding Requirements
Selected interns will:
- Complete CITI training for Social & Behavioral Research.
- Participate in onboarding sessions to familiarize themselves with lab protocols.
