Organization Description

Partners In Health (PIH) is a non-profit global health organization committed to fighting social injustice by providing quality health care to the most vulnerable populations. PIH collaborates with academic institutions to create evidence-based health policies, supports local governments in strengthening health systems, and operates in 11 countries across the globe.

Internship Focus Areas

The intern will join PIH Engage, a grassroots network mobilizing local volunteer teams to conduct advocacy, educational, and fundraising campaigns. The role includes program development, campaign strategy, and network support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Campaign Development and Resource Creation (40%)
    • Edit and develop materials for advocacy, education, and fundraising campaigns.
  2. Training Institute Organization (40%)
    • Assist in planning and executing a training and campaign development conference in Washington, D.C., for PIH Engage team leaders.
  3. Strategy Collaboration (10%)
    • Work with the PIH Engage Network Leadership Team to enhance grassroots team support.
  4. Data Collection and Analysis (10%)
    • Monitor and analyze data from grassroots activities to inform program improvements.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop skills in advocacy, community organizing, and campaign management.
  • Gain hands-on experience in event planning and conference logistics.
  • Deepen understanding of global health equity, social justice, and public policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest or experience in:
    • Global health equity, movement building, or advocacy.
    • Public policy or health policy.
  • Completed coursework in global health (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Excel or other spreadsheet tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity.

Work Environment

  • In-Person Expectations: 2–3 days per week at PIH’s Boston office (Prudential Center).
  • Remote Work: 2–3 days per week, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Interns will collaborate with:

  • The 3-person Engage staff team.
  • The 11-person Advocacy team.
  • Peers and other staff members through discussions and networking opportunities.

Key Dates

  • Preferred internship timeline: June 9–August 15 (flexible to accommodate the PIH Engage Training Institute conference).

Onboarding Process

  • Includes learning modules and pre-internship check-in calls to review project expectations and logistics.
