Internship Details
Potential Projects:
The summer project will be defined closer to the time, depending on the skills and interests of the successful candidates. Potential projects include:
- Supporting the financial sustainability diagnostic of a district hospital in Tanzania’s Lake Zone to implement strategies for economic sustainability.
- Assisting the nationwide scale-up of Touch’s innovative emergency transportation system for maternal emergencies, m-mama.
- Supporting other relevant programs as identified.
Examples of Previous Intern Work:
- Set up a center of excellence for biomedical engineering at a 1,100-bed hospital in Mwanza, Tanzania.
- Improved processes for spare parts management and inventory tracking.
- Developed strategies for digital health solutions and AI for Touch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with management and in-country leadership to develop and implement programs.
- Conduct research and strategic analyses to support program initiatives.
- Develop work plans and budgets for various projects.
- Engage with implementation partners and vendors as required.
- Collect, analyze, and report primary data.
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes.
- Prepare reports for stakeholders, donors, and management.
- Additional duties as required, aligned with the above key responsibilities.

Candidate Requirements
Essential Skills:
- Good judgment and cultural sensitivity to represent Touch Foundation professionally.
- Strong analytical, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Logistics
Mode of Work: Fully In-Person.
The intern will be fully embedded in the program team in Tanzania, with responsibilities starting on Day 1. Interns will have access to team members and leadership through an open-door policy, as well as a designated buddy for support.
Internship Timing: 10 weeks June – August
Additional Information:
- All interns undergo formal onboarding with Touch HR and an induction into the program team.
- Formal objectives will be set with supervisors before the internship begins.
