Mission Statement:
The UCLA Art & Global Health Center unleashes the transformative power of the arts to advance global health. We use the arts as a tool of research, analysis, and social action to push for improved health internationally and domestically. A large focus of our work is on holistic sexual health through three flagship programs: Through Positive Eyes, AMP!, and Up to Us.
- Through Positive Eyes is a participatory photography project by and for people living with HIV, using photography to share their stories and combat stigma.
- AMP! (also known as Sex Squad) is an arts-based sexual health education supplement to high school curriculums.
- Up to Us provides culturally relevant sexual health education to justice-impacted youth, including those in juvenile detention facilities.
Potential Projects
- Planning and producing a Through Positive Eyes global virtual gathering of participants, supporting community building across international borders.
- Assisting in creating a quarterly newsletter for HIV-positive artist-activists in the global network.
- Supporting the implementation and evaluation of Up to Us short films and workshops.
- Designing and executing arts-based sexual health education projects under staff guidance.

Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of sexual health and HIV/STIs and the role of artists in advancing health outcomes.
- Identify the unique sexual health challenges faced by marginalized youth and justice-impacted communities.
- Understand how performing arts, photography, and narrative can address issues related to sex, gender, and identity.
Skills & Qualifications

- Skills in areas such as project coordination, photography, graphic design, web design, and video editing are welcome.
- Willingness to work in an LGBTQI+-inclusive environment with a commitment to reimagining health through an anti-racism lens.
