Dr. Ravikumar, has served as the Director cum Vice Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh since 2015. He is recognized internationally for his work in colorectal cancer and liver metastasis and value-based care delivery in hospitalized patient populations using a novel model of risk mitigation for patient safety. His expertise includes biomedical & health services research; care models including universal healthcare; population health; healthcare quality & patient safety; surgical oncology; and learning innovations.

Please join us for an exciting seminar with Professor Spengler on “New Perspectives on Urban Heat.” We all recognize that our cities are getting hotter, but is our science informing important stakeholders and decision makers, such as designers, landscape architects, urban planners and public health officials? This presentation will share recent findings on extreme heat, sleep, cognitive function and health in different populations and settings.  Also described is a newly developed planning tool that predicts the thermal experience of people can account for natural and building elements to better design public places now and in the future.

Pandemic Preparedness – Improving Science, Technology, & Access Seminar Series: Kendall Hoyt, Dartmouth

Kendall Hoyt is an Assistant Professor at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine and a lecturer at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College where she teaches courses on technology and biosecurity. She serves on the National Academy of Sciences Committee on the Department of Defense’s Programs to Counter Biological Threats and on the advisory board of the Vaccine and Immunotherapy Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. For the 2015-16 academic year, she is a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Global Health Policy at the University of Sussex, a Cybersecurity Fellow at New America, and an OpEd Project Public Voices Fellow.
